Native Culinary Expo

The Chickasaw Cultural Center is excited to host our first Native Culinary Expo! Join us as we showcase Native culture and history through inspired ingredients and cuisine.

Our all-star chef roster includes Loretta Barrett Oden (Potawatomi), Dave Smoke McCluskey (Mohawk) and Christian Bennett (Nez Perce). Students of the Chickasaw Arts Academy culinary program will also be assisting and presenting throughout the day. 

Seasoned With Spirit: A Native Cook’s Journey with Loretta Barrett Oden, a 5-part culinary series that celebrates indigenous foods, will play in the Anoli' Theater starting at 10 a.m. Enjoy 10% off retail in the Aachompa' gift shops, and be sure to check out our Aaimpa' Cafe specials!

Food demonstrations and tasting booths will take place in the Anoli' Theater lobby and the Chikasha Inchokka' Traditional Village (weather permitting). Chef presentations with Q&A sessions will begin in the Anoli' Theater at 2 p.m., followed by the Chickasaw Arts Academy culinary student panel at 4 p.m.


Schedule of Events:
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Anoli' Theater: Episodes 1-5 of Seasoned with Spirit featuring Loretta Barrett Oden (each episode is approximately 20 minutes)
10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Anoli' Theater Lobby: Cooking demonstrations
11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Chikasha Inchokka' Traditional Village: Cooking showcase and food samples with Dave McCluskey and Christian Bennett
1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Anoli' Theater Lobby: Tasting booths with Loretta Barrett Oden and Chickasaw Arts Academy culinary students
2 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Anoli' Theater: Presentation by Loretta Barrett Oden
2:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Anoli' Theater: Presentation by Christian Bennett
3 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Anoli' Theater: Presentation by Dave McCluskey
4 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. Anoli' Theater: Panel discussion with Chickasaw Arts Academy culinary students
