When in Rome during a highly publicized goodwill tour, Princess Ann grows tired of her strict responsibilities and rebels for a day of leisurely adventure. She meets Joe Bradley, an American newspaper reporter stationed in Rome, and introduces herself to him by the alias Anya Smith. Bradley soon recognizes Princess Ann, but keeps his knowledge a secret in order to gain an exclusive story and keep his job.
